When you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you don’t have time to waste. The window to heat that preform is tiny. If your lamps take too long to warm up, you’re staring at lag during start-up and—even worse—deformed bottles because the heat isn’t hitting evenly. That’s exactly why we built our replacement lamps for SACMI and Sidel SBO machines. We wanted to kill that lag. The secret is in the filament. Most people don’t think about “thermal inertia,” but it’s a big deal. We use a high-density tungsten filament that’s tuned specifically for your SACMI oven’s voltage. By tightening the tolerance on the diameter, the lamp hits full infrared output in a few seconds instead of dragging its feet. The best part? You don’t have to mess around with your PLC heating curves. You just pop them in and go. It’s all about the fit. We use high-purity quartz glass so the tubes don’t warp when the machine is cycling fast. But the real headache is usually the connectors. We’ve seen way too many “budget” lamps fail because the pins don’t actually sit right in the socket. That leads to arcing and burnt-out end caps. To get this kind of response speed, we push the filament to a higher surface temperature. It gives you the heat density you need for fast cycles, but it means the quartz envelope is working harder. Because of that, you’ve got to keep your oven reflectors clean. If dust builds up, the heat bounces back and can overheat the lamp ends, which kills the lifespan.
