
Getting the Heat Right in Your Husky HyPET System
If you’ve spent any time running high-speed PET lines, you know the struggle. It’s not about how much power you throw at the preforms—it’s about where that heat actually goes. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing a bottle with uneven walls because the heat just scorched the surface instead of soaking in. We built our infrared lamps for the Husky HyPET footprint specifically to stop that from happening.
Why “Deep Heat” Matters
Here is the thing: most lamps just bake the outside. You end up with a “cold core,” where the center of the plastic stays rigid while the exterior is overheating. We fixed this by tweaking the halogen gas pressure and the quartz glass itself. It shifts the light to wavelengths that PET actually likes to absorb. Instead of a surface burn, the heat sinks deep into the plastic. And since we use heavy-duty filaments, these lamps can handle the heavy current loads of fast cycles without breaking a sweat. You’ll notice the machine hits operating temperature faster, which means way less scrap in the bin during startup.
No Headaches During Install
We made these as simple drop-in replacements. No custom brackets, no “making it fit,” and no fighting with the wiring. Everything just clicks into place. We also treat the quartz glass so it doesn’t oxidize or crack when you’re cycling it on and off rapidly. We’re also obsessive about the size. If a lamp is off by even a millimeter, it doesn’t sit right in the oven. That leads to hot spots or a burnt-out tube. We don’t let that happen.
A Quick Word of Caution
These lamps push a lot more energy into the preform. Because of that, you’ll want to double-check your oven’s airflow. If your vents are dusty or your blowers are sluggish, that extra heat density can start messing with your neck finish. Just take a second to verify your blower speeds when you swap these in. It keeps your process stable and your bottles looking perfect.
