Stop Overpaying for Your Krones Contiform IR Lamps
Let’s be honest: OEM parts are expensive. When you’re running Krones Contiform machines, those infrared lamps are essential, but the price tag on the brand-name replacements can really chew through your margins. You need the heat to be perfect, but you don’t need to pay a “brand tax” just to keep your line moving.
The trick to getting the heat right
Heating PET preforms is a bit of a balancing act. If the heat isn’t hitting the exact right spots, you’re in trouble. You end up with “cold spots,” which means your bottles come out with uneven walls or that annoying pearlescent look. Not a good look for the final product. We built our lamps to hit those same specific absorption bands that PET requires. The goal is simple: uniform heat from top to bottom. No guesswork, just a consistent glow that gets the plastic to the right temperature every single time.
No headaches during install
The last thing you want is a “replacement” part that requires you to rewire your entire oven. That’s a nightmare. Our lamps are built to fit the existing footprints exactly. You just pop them in. We used high-grade quartz and a specific filament mix so they can handle the constant on-off cycling without burning out early. It’s a simple swap.
A quick word of caution
Here is the thing: if you’re pushing for high-speed production with high-wattage lamps, your oven’s ventilation has to keep up. If you crank up the heat to boost your throughput, double-check that your cooling blowers are clean. If they’re clogged, you might overheat the preform neck. Once you ruin the finish, the bottle is scrap. At the end of the day, you get the same thermal profile and the same cycle times. You just stop paying the OEM premium. It’s a smarter way to lower your cost per bottle without risking your quality.
